At around the end of May nokia announced two new phones, the Nokia 6500 and the Nokia 6500 slide. I received the press release and deleted it after skimming over it quickly, I just thought meh another Nokia s40 phone without anything substantial. However when the first previews on the phone appeared on the internet I started to get more intrigued by this phone. It was the first nokia slide phone that actually looked good. Don’t get me wrong, the N95 is nice but the slide looks nicer in brushed aluminum. The two main things that appealed to me with the slide were the 3.2 megapixel camera with flash and the new version of s40, v5. I spent a lot of time looking at reviews, previews, video and pictures of this handset before I finally bit the bullet and ordered one from o2 online.
Initial impressions
Nokia 6500 When my phone finally arrived from o2, I grabbed my camera and thought lets have a go at reviewing the phone. It was clear from the moment I opened the box that this handset was going to be good. It looked perfect sitting there with the aluminum finish.

Design and ergonomics
G600 is a compact and slim slider, its form factor is native to the company, besides that slider is the most asked for form factor on the market (not in the terms of sales volume, but the public attention it attracts). The dimensions are rather small, counting 101 x 47,8 x 14,9 mm. We shoud do Samsung justice, this time the thickness is specified at the thickest point of the handset, what is in keeping with the worldwide recognized standard, and not the thinnest one like it used to be in the Ultra series. So, the handset is 14,9 mm thick at the camera module position and the rest of the phone is roughly 13 mm thick.

The Nokia N76 starts off with a plate glass cover for its secondary screen. The glass smudges and soils easily The Nokia N76 and if you want to show off to your friends, you might have to pass it around as quickly as possible. What¡¦s worst it is also highly reflective, and you can barely read the screen¡¦s content under direct sunlight.

The phone we have on hand is a two-tone black and sliver finish. Much of the phone is covered in plastics which increase durability, instead of the fancy paint jobs. However, we couldn¡¦t grasp the design concept of the sliver band snaking across the back of the phone.
However, there seem to some problems in the paint job details of the N76, the slivery insides have been torn off and forums are loaded with discussions about the N76¡¦s problems with their peeling paints. Apparently, the N76 paint job problems have affected most of their stock.

Let's clear up some facts concerning the naming of the device. Why should it be Nokia N95 8Gb and not Nokia N95i or N96? The answer is quite simple, the magic sound of N95 is something very familiar to a consumer even faintly acquainted with the mobile telecoms market, it's clearly associated with something that has existed for a certain period of time and is quite successful, so the name is part of the franchise's goodwill and indirectly imposes the idea that the new product is just as good as its predecessor - a fact obvious to some and needing to be injected into the heads of others. The 8GB prefix only boosts the power of the N95 title, acting much more efficiently than the less meaningful "i" letter. Once you hear somebody say 8GB you understand that this stands for a large storage capacity rarely encountered on today's market.
It's too naive to think that the 8Gb of integrated flash storage is the only major improvement introduced in the new version, in fact a number of aspects have seen some serious improvements - both hardware and software related alike, as well as the exterior design has been revised. But on the whole the new model doesn't claim to be a totally independent creation, keeping much of the original essense and feel of N95. So we won't be reviewing the part of functionality that was left unchanged since N95, but the article will mainly be focused on the differences and improvements.

Design
The Viewty is covered in two-tone material with black plastic material and silver etchings. The form factor is a candybar design, and despite all we have heard about big phones, the Viewty is ergonomical and lightweight.
The faceplate is a 262K TFT colour 3-inch display covering the front of the phone. The three buttons on the front of the phone are the call and end buttons. Meanwhile the cancel button is between the two. The faceplate is the typical easily soiled/smudged material but LG decided to give a complimentary screen cover to counter this problem.
